2021 VIRTUAL CLASSES via Zoom

All ZOOM classes include Powerpoint lessons, demonstrations & Individual critique for that week on Fridays along with access to private Facebook group where additional links, teaching & communication are posted, also art work is shared & connection with other artists happens.

2021 Studio Plan

This is a proposed calendar and subjects may change as classes are surveyed.

Weekly classes on Tuesdays, 9:30 to 12 noon CST

  • January – Photoshop for the artist Photoshop is a powerful photo editing tool which can en-hance any artist’s reference material for drawing and painting.  Course covers understanding file size, resizing images, using history and layers, and editing tools for the artist such as image adjustment, clone, blur, skew, quick selection tools, and using artistic filters.  For artists of all levels, some experi-ence in Photoshop will be helpful but not required.   • February – Quick draw & the importance of warm up exercises or Studying the Victorian Era (will survey in Jan)

  • March – Pastel Demos materials & methods covered.  Portrait & Flowers

  • April – Learning from the Impressionists (Auguste Renoir, Edward Potthast)

  • May – Learning from the Impressionists (Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot) 

  • June - Drawing & painting Animals (Aaron Blaise & various)

  • July – Narrowing down the million BACKGROUND OPTIONS

  • August – Sharing favorite instructional video clips from my teachers

  • September – All About Color, mixing, limited palette, skin tones

  • October – Drawing & painting hands & feet, critique sessions, reclaiming old work

  • November – Holiday art, a look at history & a set up in the studio.

  • December – Drawing Basics: Basic shapes, negative space, foreshortening & more.

AUGUST 2020 A study of German artist Alexander Koester painter of ducks

Paint along sessions, begin with inspiration and instruction followed by explanation of materials, mixing paint, drawing, & painting start to finish.

Private Facebook group with interaction between classes and weekly critique via email. Begins Aug 3

 

SEPTEMBER 2020 A study of landscape artist Theodore Clemente Steele & Landscape A-Z. (Composition & Perspective covered)

Paint along sessions, begin with inspiration and instruction followed by explanation of materials, mixing paint, drawing, & painting start to finish.

Private Facebook group with interaction between classes and weekly critique via email.

 

OCTOBER 2020 DRAWING THE HEAD - ZOOM CLASSES

Learn classical techniques to drawing the head including using plumb lines, proportions of length, understanding the plane, and capturing details in eyes, ears, nose, and hair.  You’ll practice each technique with exercises to work on your own, send to Christy via email, and she will return with detailed critiques on Fridays. There will be a class Facebook group for sharing and input throughout the week with ad-ditional resources. For artists of all levels.

NOVEMBER 2020 TAKING BETTER PHOTOS FOR THE ARTIST - ZOOM CLASSES

Need better reference material for your artwork? Join Christy, a classical fine art instructor in the atelier tradition, as she shares about lighting, composition, editing and much more to help you take better photos for your artwork with any SLR cameras, point & shoot, or your phone.   Course includes project assigments with critiques from Christy, and a class Facebook group for sharing and input.  Prerequisite: You must be able to use your camera and features. For artists of all levels.

DECEMBER 2020 - TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR ART, Developing a Plan for 2021 & Let’s have some FUN with COLLAGE!! - ZOOM CLASSES

Inspiration, goal setting, connecting with other artists especially during this season of pandemic and isolation.  AND We will work on collage techniques & individual projects during the month of December, holiday themed or individuals choice ( Dec 1, 8 & 15, 3 weeks).
