An Ongoing Journey to Learn

My journey in learning to paint includes study with over a dozen master artists. I consider these divine opportunities to learn from men and women, whose lineage can be traced back 3 to 5 generations, to such masters as John Singer Sargent, Thomas Eakins, Robert Henri, Ilya Repin & Valentin Serov, among others. I take seriously the passing down of these timeless teachings, to students of all ages. I absolutely love painting and teaching!

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it." Steve Jobs

"In visual art it's better once to see, than one hundred times to hear." (Igor Babailov)

"The likeness has a great deal more to do with proportions of length than it does with drawing a perfect nose, a perfect eye, or a perfect mouth." (Daniel E. Greene)

"As John Singer Sargent said, ‘Every portrait should have the element of a caricature. Not a cartoon. But something that makes you say, ‘That’s the person." (Everett R. Kinstler)
